Gala Dinner for ASEAN Heads of State/Government and Their Spouses

On 28 February 2009 at 19.30-22.00 hrs. H. E. Abhisit Vejjajiva Prime Minister of Thailand hosted the Gala Dinner for ASEAN Heads of State and Government, attending the 14th ASEAN Summit, and their Spouses at Mrigadayavan Palace. Among other invited guests were the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Ministers, Parliamentarians, and distinguished guests including former ASEAN Secretaries-General, Permanent Representatives accredited to ASEAN and the Ambassadors to ASEAN.

Opening Ceremony of the 14th ASEAN Summit

Hua Hin, Thailand : Today (28 Feb 09) at 14.30 hrs., H.E. Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand delivered an opening statement at the opening ceremony of the 14th ASEAN Summit, where heads of state and government from all 10 ASEAN member countries gathered to mark a new chapter for ASEAN following the entry into force of the ASEAN Charter last December.


Under the theme ‘ASEAN Charter for ASEAN Peoples’, the 14th ASEAN Summit underlines new era of ASEAN with people at the heart of cooperation. Besides, there are three sub-themes, namely ‘Towards More Effective Community-Building’, ‘Enhancing Regional Resilience against Global Threats’, and ‘Reinforcing ASEAN Centrality in the Evolving Regional Architecture’.
